Jeffery Simmons says Titans defensive line can 'dominate' Chiefs

Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons may have given the Kansas City Chiefs some bulletin board material before Sunday's game between the clubs. 

"But, man, I live for games like this where no one expects us to go in and get a big win," Simmons said of the Chiefs during a SiriusXM NFL Radio appearance, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk. "I’m juiced up every game, but games like this just mean a little more to me, because I know what type of team that we have here in Tennessee. I know that, especially that our front four, when we go out there, I watch tape, so I’m looking at the offensive linemen that we have to play against, and I’m very confident that we can go out there and dominate them. Like I said, they know us, we know them. I’m looking forward to the matchups up front. Whoever it may be. [Joe] Thuney or Trey Smith at the guard position. But I’m very confident in our defense going out there and having a great day."

Both the Titans and Chiefs enter the prime-time matchup in Kansas City at 5-2. Tennessee has won five in a row, and yet Oddschecker pointed out early Friday evening the Chiefs were listed as 12.5-point favorites.

ESPN stats show Kansas City ranks second in total offense and is averaging 403.3 yards per game. The Chiefs are first in scoring with 31.9 points per contest. 

Both the Titans and Chiefs fell to the Buffalo Bills earlier this season but under different circumstances. Buffalo crushed Tennessee to the tune of 41-7 back in Week 2, while Kansas City lost 24-20 to the Bills on Oct. 16. 

The Bills and Chiefs are the top two betting favorites to represent the AFC in Super Bowl LVII this coming February. 

Logic suggests Chiefs head coach Andy Reid either already has or will share Simmons' words with the Kansas City squad before the "Sunday Night Football" showdown. What's done is done, so Simmons and company must now back those comments with what likely will have to be the Titans' best defensive performance of the season if they are to leave GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium with a win.
