Jerry Jeudy getting second chance after not being traded from Broncos

Jerry Jeudy has an opportunity to rewrite his Denver Bronco story.

After several trade rumors swirled, Denver decided to hold on to Jeudy. It hopes he sharpens his game and becomes a top-notch wideout.

This season has been a microcosm for his three-year career, a career filled with glimpses of talent but one marred with inconsistencies.

Despite a 17-16 loss against Seattle, Jeudy looked like Russell Wilson's top target in Week 1. He scored a 67-yard touchdown and recorded 102 receiving yards. In the following five games, he failed to record more than four receptions, and his name started popping up in trade rumors.

After the Broncos started receiving calls, Jeudy had two of his best games this season. He had season-highs in a 16-9 loss against the Jets, reeling in seven receptions and 96 receiving yards. In Sunday's 21-17 victory against Jacksonville, he had six receptions and a touchdown.

These strong performances shifted the perception of Jeudy.

"We're trending in the right direction with Jerry (Jeudy)," said Broncos general manager George Paton in a Tuesday news conference. "We wanted to keep our young, talented receivers."

If Jeudy continues his upward trajectory, the 23-year-old can prove he deserved to be a first-round pick in 2020 and deserved this second chance.
