The Dallas Cowboys stunned members of the football community when they erased a 21-point deficit to earn a 24-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, improving Dallas to 5-5-1 on Sunday.
Following the victory, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones spoke about what his club could accomplish through at least early January 2026.
"You’ve got to have these little wins as you look [at the] daunting [schedule] ahead and our numbers of what we’re going to do to get in the playoffs," Jones said, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. "But that’s one right there that I’ll be as proud of on my dying breath as I will any game we’ve won around here. Well, I’m not going to say Super Bowls, but I can dream. I can dream."
Last week, Jones and Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott acknowledged how difficult it would be for Dallas to qualify for the postseason tournament after the club came off its Week 10 bye at 3-5-1. Since then, a defense that Jones bolstered by acquiring defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and linebacker Logan Wilson ahead of the trade deadline has produced back-to-back solid performances.
Most recently, Dallas held the reigning Super Bowl champions scoreless in the second half of Sunday's game. Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley finished the contest with just 22 rushing yards on 10 carries.
"This day had such meaning for our season," Jones added. "This day had such meaning for our future. Earlier this year, we had a chance to go down a couple of roads, and we took one of the roads."
The Cowboys will get right back to work on Monday, as they will next host the Kansas City Chiefs for a Thanksgiving Day matchup that will be massive for both clubs. The Chiefs rallied in the fourth quarter of their game against the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday to secure a 23-20 overtime win, improving Kansas City to 6-5.
As of Monday morning, ESPN BET had the Cowboys as 3.5-point home underdogs against the Chiefs. At that same time, ESPN's Football Power Index gave Dallas a 9.5 percent chance to make the playoffs.
