Jerry Jones Facing Decision After NFL Punishment

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was riding high following his team's win over the New York Jets. One fan filming appears to have caught Jones flipping his middle finger at Jets fans and then pointing at them.

The owner came out on Tuesday and expressed remorse for the action.

"That was unfortunate. That was kind of an exchange with our fans out in front of us," Jones said on 105.3 The Fan. "There was a swarm of Cowboys fans out in front— not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was brimming with the enthusiasm of Cowboys, and certainly late in the game.

"That was inadvertent, on my part because that was right after we made our last touchdown. And we were all excited about it. There wasn't any antagonistic issue or anything like that. I just put up the wrong show of the hand, but that was inadvertently done … the intention was thumbs up, and then basically pointing at our fans."

Unfortunately for Jones, the NFL isn't going to let his unfortunate gesture slide.

NFL Fining Jones $250,000, Cowboys Owner Could Appeal

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, has decided to fine Jones $250,000 for the gesture. That won't make much of a dent in his $16.6 billion net worth, but it's a stiff fine for the Cowboys owner.

Jones has been having a very interesting 2025. He was widely panned for hiring Brian Schottenheimer as head coach and then trading away star pass rusher Micah Parsons right before the season. Despite that, the Cowboys 2-2-1, and while that isn't great, it is better than many expected, which has to feel good for Jones after taking on so much criticism.

He is facing a decision in regards to the fine. As Dallas Morning News' Joseph Hoyt pointed out, Jones has the ability to appeal the fine, but it remains to be seen if he's going to go through with that.
