Jerry Jones isn't getting nominated for one of the best things he's done recently but it was obvious he wouldn't be all along

Hey listen, I know Dallas Cowboys fans have it against owner Jerry Jones and I know it's for good reason.

The 30-year old Super Bowl drought Dallas is going through is largely the result of how ownership runs the team.  If you ask Cowboys fans what's wrong with the team, some will disagree on how good the quarterback is or the roster. But they'll all be on the same page when it comes to Jones: Another general manager would suit the team really well.

But let's get all of that out of the way because this isn't about football. It is about Jerry in another space: Acting.

As many of you may know, Jones went viral earlier in the year for a guest appearance on the popular TV/Streaming show Landman. Jones acted as himself and gave a speech that surprised viewers and fans because of how good it was.

But Jones wasn't nominated by the Emmy's outstanding guest actor in a drama series, as Dallas Morning News' Joseph Hoyt first noted on X.

In the scene above, Jones delivers a passionate speech about family and working with your kids, which he has embodied during his time as owner of the Cowboys. Reports indicated when the show released that Jones improvised the speech and many have pointed out he meant every word despite it being a work of fiction.

"I'm pretty proud of them Cowboys, I'm pretty proud of the stuff we've done, and oil and gas," Jones says on the show. "It pales in comparison to how proud I am as to have lived my life working with my kids."

Watching the scene for the tenth time or so, I've got to say I'm still impressed of Jones' work in front of the camera. He might not have been acting but that was an emotional and inspiring message.

Jerry Jones was never going to be nominated for an EMMY

Though I took this opportunity to recognize Jones' work in the scene, it's fairly obvious he was never going to receive a nomination. The award is for real actors that do this for a living and the "guest" label is somewhat misleading.

Actors who are recurring guests to a show can win so actors in consistent supporting roles are eligible for the award.

I'm sure Jones isn't sweating it. The Cowboys owner has enough hardware at his place and a bust in Canton, Ohio at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
