Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Dak Prescott entered Most Valuable Player conversations for the ongoing season by guiding the club to an 8-3 record ahead of December.
Along the way, Prescott picked up a noteworthy fan in injured New York Jets signal-caller Aaron Rodgers.
"He’s become one of my favorite quarterbacks to watch," Rodgers said about Prescott during a Tuesday appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show," as shared by Clarence E. Hill Jr. of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "I’ve watched more football this year than any other year because in normal years you’re getting ready for games."
According to ESPN stats, Prescott began Tuesday ranked second in the league among qualified players with a 75.3 adjusted QBR, a 107.4 passer rating, 23 passing touchdowns and a 70.0% completion percentage. The Cowboys would be the No. 5 seed in the NFC playoffs if the postseason tournament started today, while the 10-1 Philadelphia Eagles sit atop the NFC East and overall conference standings.
As of Tuesday afternoon, oddschecker listed Philadelphia's Jalen Hurts as the betting favorite at +170 odds to win the MVP Award. That outlet had Prescott at +800 odds.
"I love the way he’s playing, like really playing," Rodgers added about Prescott. "I’m not talking about just like making good throws. It seems more rare where the guys are actually really playing the position where you’re making adjustments. You’re handling everything at the line [of] scrimmage, now you’re doing this crazy cadence stuff. I love it. And I just want to shout out Dak for really impressing me."
The Cowboys fell to the Eagles on Nov. 5, and the two clubs will meet again when Dallas hosts Philly in Week 14 on Dec. 10. It sounds like Rodgers will be rooting for Prescott and "America's Team" to avenge the previous defeat when that "Sunday Night Football" contest gets underway.
