Jets' Aaron Rodgers offers advice to Jordan Love, Packers fans

It sounds like New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers hopes that both Green Bay Packers signal-caller Jordan Love and Packers fans will "r-e-l-a-x" following Love's struggles over his past two games.

"The important thing as a quarterback is keeping your confidence," Rodgers said about Love during a Tuesday appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show," as shared by Zach Kruse of Packers Wire/USA Today. "You gotta keep pushing through it. Be the same guy every single day. You gotta inspire your teammates every day and bring that consistency."

Rodgers had Love as a backup from 2020 through last season until Green Bay traded the future Hall of Famer to the Jets this past spring.

Love then won two of his first three starts as Green Bay's full-time QB1 before he matched one touchdown pass with five interceptions across back-to-back outings that the Packers lost to fall to 2-3.

The 24-year-old threw three picks in Monday's 17-13 defeat against the Las Vegas Raiders and was widely criticized for the game's final turnover that occurred due to a throw that never should've been made in the first place considering the Packers had a timeout to burn with plenty of time left on the game clock:

Nevertheless, Rodgers urged Packers fans on Tuesday to "take some deep breaths and trust this kid" will figure things out sooner rather than later.

"Listen, there is going to be growing pains," Rodgers explained during the show segment. "I had growing pains my first year starting. We all go through it. He’s going to be just fine. He’s a great kid. They’ve got a young team."

According to ESPN stats, Love ended Week 5 ranked 25th in the NFL among qualified players with a 42.3 adjusted QBR, 28th with a 77.3 passer rating and 33rd with a 55.6% completion percentage on the season. In total, he's tossed eight touchdown passes and six interceptions.

Green Bay started its bye week on Tuesday and next plays at the Denver Broncos on Oct. 22. 1-4 Denver faces the 4-1 Kansas City Chiefs at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday evening.
