Jets Activate Tim Patrick From Injured Reserve

The New York Jets are getting some much-needed help at wide receiver.  The team announced Saturday that veteran Tim Patrick has been activated from injured reserve and will be available for Sunday’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns at MetLife Stadium.

Patrick has missed the first four games of the season with a groin injury suffered during the opening week of regular-season practices. He returned to practice this week, and the Jets wasted little time getting him back on the active roster. At 6-foot-5, Patrick gives Geno Smith another big target in a passing game that has been dealing with injuries. With Adonai Mitchell sidelined by a finger injury and rookie Omar Cooper Jr. on injured reserve, getting an experienced receiver back is certainly welcome news.

Patrick spent last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars, catching 15 passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games. Before that, he played for the Detroit Lions in 2024, finishing with 33 receptions for 394 yards and three scores. He isn’t going to solve all of the Jets offensive problems by himself, but his size, experience and ability to contribute as a blocker could give offensive coordinator Frank Reich a few more options.

Jets Waive Jamaal Pritchett

To make room for Patrick on the 53-man roster, the Jets waived wide receiver Jamaal Pritchett. Pritchett was promoted to the active roster in September and made his NFL debut against the Lions, contributing on special teams. The former undrafted free agent spent last season on the Jets practice squad.

Jaden Keller Elevated from Practice Squad

The Jets also elevated linebacker Jaden Keller from the practice squad for Sunday’s game against Cleveland. Keller appeared against the Chicago Bears last week, playing primarily on special teams. This will be his second consecutive game on the active game-day roster.

Jets Looking to Get Back on Track

The Jets enter Sunday’s game at 1-3 and have dropped three straight. With injuries piling up on offense, they could certainly use another reliable option in the passing game. How much Patrick plays in his first game back remains to be seen, but getting him on the field is a positive development for a team that needs to find some consistency on offense.
