Jets' Breece Hall sends warning to opposing defenses

New York Jets running back Breece Hall is putting opposing defenses on notice now that quarterback Aaron Rodgers is serving as the club's offensive CEO.

"I mean with the offense we have right now, I think we have an answer for everything," Hall confidently declared during an appearance on NFL Network, per Coral Smith of the league's official website. "If you don't want to load the box, Aaron's going to get the ball off all day, if you do we've got the (run-pass options) and we've got him to take shots, and we have the receivers that are going to make plays for us, as well. And if the offense is struggling, we have the backbones of our defense to rely on, so we're excited for that, for sure."

One can't blame Hall for expressing such confidence. The 2022 Jets were 7-5 and chasing a playoff spot until backup quarterback Mike White suffered fractures to his ribs following the first benching of Zach Wilson. Instead of either White or Wilson, Gang Green now has a four-time NFL Most Valuable Player atop the depth chart in a reportedly motivated Rodgers.

"With our offense and the guys we have, with the defense we have, I feel like as long as we do our one-eleventh on each side of the ball -- offense, defense and special teams -- we'll be fine," Hall added about New York's roster.

Hall finished fewer than seven total games as a rookie before he went down with a season-ending torn ACL, but ESPN stats show he nevertheless led the 2022 Jets with 463 rushing yards and four scores on the ground. The 22-year-old is working toward returning in time for the upcoming regular-season opener versus the Buffalo Bills on Sept. 11.

"I'm doing pretty good right now," Hall said about his ongoing recovery. "I've been saying I'll be ready for the first game, so right now I'm just focusing on getting my knee as strong as possible, just getting that confidence back. But it's been going well so far."

As of Thursday afternoon, OddsChecker listed the Jets fourth among betting favorites at +1100 odds to represent the AFC in Super Bowl LVIII. Hall's status throughout the campaign could determine whether or not the Jets reach that goal.
