As the NFL’s trade deadline draws closer, New York Jets running back Breece Hall has heard his name thrown around as a potential part of a deal for weeks.
After an offseason full of additional trade rumors, it seems the running back is more than ready with whatever happens.
Earlier in the week, the 24-year-old took to Instagram with a caption including the hashtag “Free20.” Without context, Hall’s post could be seen as a trade request, or at least a desire to leave the Jets once and for all.
Speaking to Brian Costello of the New York Post, though, Hall made it clear that wasn’t the case.
Hall was not made available for a session on Wednesday. Speaking to the Jets reporter of the New York Post, he clarified exactly what his post was about.
“I haven’t posted yet this season,” Hall said. “It’s just a way for me to say I’m ready for whatever comes my way, whether it’s going against an opponent, whether it’s in my life. For me, it’s a football thing. ‘Alright, I’m ready for whatever opponent is coming my way.’”
Since the buildup to the 2025 NFL draft, Hall has heard his name thrown around in rumors. Head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey have consistently committed to the running back.
That could change soon with the Jets sitting at 0-6 and potentially looking to sell off assets.
Hall has recorded 410 rushing yards and 150 receiving yards in six games this season. His 4.7 yards per carry average is the best mark he has seen since his 2022 rookie season.

This is the time of year when struggling teams tend to lie in public about their intentions with certain players or an organization’s mindset. Some clubs commit to their roster, only to make a trade at the last minute.
That could happen with Hall and the Jets. At the current moment, though, Glenn poured ice water on any potential trade conversations.
“They’re rumors,” Glenn said. “Still feel the same way.”
Outside of Hall, the Jets do not have a lot of answers at running back. Despite being a team that ranks fifth in the league in rushing yards, Hall is the only running back with over 100 yards. Braelon Allen is on injured reserve, and Isaiah Davis has only gotten eight carries.
A trade of the feature back would severely limit what the Jets can do on offense, especially when adding the fact that he’s third on the team in receiving yards.
While Hall may not want out of New York yet, frustration is clearly there for the veteran. As Gang Green’s 0-6 mark continues to haunt the roster, it could lead to major changes, though.
That leaves the fourth-year running back as a potential odd man out.
