Jets GM shares details about Aaron Rodgers offseason timeline

Douglas further explained when he sensed that the momentum towards a potential deal was changing.

The Jets' 2023 regular season ended with an 11-6 loss to the Miami Dolphins on Jan. 8 and the NFL Combined took place from Feb. 27 to March 6.

Rodgers was traded from Green Bay to New York on April 26, one day before the start of the NFL Draft.

Gang Green was seen as the favorite to land the four-time MVP for weeks, if not months prior to the official deal going down, due to multiple factors.

Among the most obvious reasons why the Jets were able to acquire Rodgers was their hiring of former Denver Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett (Rodgers' former offensive coordinator with the Packers) in January to be their offensive coordinator. 

During his introductory press conference with his new team in April, Rodgers mentioned Hackett as a "big reason" he was now with the Jets.

Douglas and company also appeared to oblige to the signal-caller's much-discussed and rumored "wish list" by picking up a host of former Green Bay players this offseason both before and after Rodgers' arrival. Some of the names to join Rodgers in New York who used to play for the Packers include third-string quarterback Tim Boyle, wideouts Allen Lazard, Malik Taylor and Randall Cobb, and offensive tackle Billy Turner.
