Jets' Injury Update: Breece Hall One of Two Starters Limited Due to Hamstring
Jamie Germano/Rochester Democrat and Chronicle / USA TODAY NETWORK

There are two hamstring injuries, one new and one lingering, that warrant extra attention as the New York Jets prepare for their Week 13 home game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Running back Breece Hall and slot cornerback Michael Carter II were amongst eight Jets who were limited participants in Wednesday's practice. Hall is a new addition to the injury report while Carter II has missed the past two games. They are both dealing with hamstring issues.

Hall has not missed a game yet this season after successfully recovering from an ACL injury that prematurely ended his 2022 campaign. The second-year pro played 66 percent of the team's offensive snaps against Miami last time out.

Having relinquished his NFL lead in yards per carry average, Hall has faced tough sledding lately. Opponents have held the Jets' RB1 under 30 rush yards each of the last three games. Hall has not surpassed the 50-yard rushing mark in any of his six most-recent appearances.

Carter II initially popped up on the injury report one day prior to the November 19 game against Buffalo. The starting slot corner did not practice last week, leading to a second straight inactive designation on gameday against the Dolphins.

The 24-year-old Carter has held opposing receivers to 5.2 yards per target through nine games this season. The 2021 fifth-round draft pick has allowed one touchdown on his watch. He has 36 tackles, two passes defensed and one forced fumble to his credit.

The Week 13 Injury Report headliner is none other than Aaron Rodgers. The Jets opened the 21-day activation window for the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback, who remains on Injured Reserve but was officially listed as a limited practice participant. Backup offensive lineman Wes Schweitzer and special teams ace Justin Hardee also re-joined practice in a limited capacity on Wednesday.

Starting offensive tackle Mekhi Becton (ankle/knee), who was unavailable for the NFL Black Friday Game against Miami, was a limited participant. Jets' head coach Robert Saleh mentioned that the behemoth bookend is improving.

"I feel good about Mekhi getting back this week," said Saleh prior to Wednesday's practice session in Florham Park.

Fifth-round rookie running back Israel Abanikanda (illness) was the lone non-participant on the Jets' injury report.

"Izzy, he’s dealing with an illness. He’s not going to be at practice today, but he should be back tomorrow," said Saleh.
