Jets Misuse of Breece Hall Remains Mind Boggling

In fact, head coach Aaron Glenn said this offseason that Hall was going to be a guy who would “turn it up a notch because of what we’re going to do”.  Through seven contests, the winless Jets haven’t done much of anything to maximize Hall’s potential.  A look at the numbers show the talented back has surpassed five targets just twice this season, and both of those times he had just six.

This has become a theme for Hall in recent years.  This isn’t to say Hall hasn’t seen targets, but he certainly hasn’t seen enough.  Two years ago under offensive coordinator Nate Hackett, Hall was a non-factor through the air for much of the early part of the season.  It wasn’t until mid-season that the OC admitted he didn’t know Hall was a threat to make plays as a receiver out of the backfield.

Then of course last season, following a trade for Davante Adams, the Jets weren’t nearly as desperate to add a target as they are now.  Especially with Garrett Wilson nursing a hyperextended knee.  But even with Wilson out, Hall saw just three targets last week, catching two of them for fourteen yards.
