Jets OC Makes Strong Statement on Geno Smith

At 35 years old, Geno Smith is still playing quarterback at a high level in the NFL, proving he has plenty left in the tank.

The veteran quarterback reunited with the franchise that drafted him in 2013, the New York Jets, after making stops with the Raiders, Seahawks, Chargers and Giants.

Smith wasn't the only significant addition the Jets made this offseason. New York hired Frank Reich in hopes of adding a veteran offensive mind to help revitalize an offense that struggled last season.

Smith and Reich will both play key roles in the Jets' offensive turnaround this season.

Frank Reich Heaps High Praise on Jets Quarterback

Jets offensive coordinator Frank Reich had high praise for Smith while speaking to reporters on Friday.

"I don't know how old he is. Isn't he past 35?" Reich asked before being told Smith is actually 35. "It feels like he's 28. I'm telling you, it feels like physically, I see no ... like, he is in his prime, physically."

Reich then went on to praise Smith's arm talent and ability to maneuver in the pocket.

"Like his arm, the way he moves, his feet in the pocket, he's physically in his prime," said Reich, in his first season running the Jets' offense. "So he takes great care of himself, and that's going to help this team."
