Aaron Rodgers still wants to play in the NFL during the 2025 season but it's unlikely he'll be with the New York Jets.
According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Rodgers wants to play next year but it won't be for the Jets.
"At this point, after conversations with sources with the team and around the league, my understanding is that Rodgers still wants to play in 2025, just not for the New York Jets," Russini writes.
Russini also reports that Jets owner Woody Johnson has lost confidence in Rodgers' ability to lead them to the playoffs.
Rodgers's tenure in New York has been disastrous, and they'll likely be looking to replace him when free agency starts in March. He missed virtually all of last season with a torn Achilles and even though he's been healthy this year, it hasn't mattered.
The Jets are 3-8 through their first 11 games and are basically out of the playoff picture unless they can run the table and win their last six games, which is extremely unlikely. They're coming off a 28-27 loss at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts and have their bye week this week before they play the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday.
If Russini's report comes to pass, it'll be interesting to see which teams go after Rodgers for next season. He's already 40 and will be 41 when next season starts.
In 11 games this season, he has thrown for 2,442 yards through the air, 17 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
