Jets reportedly made ‘legitimate attempts this offseason’ to replace Nathaniel Hackett as OC

Even though they didn’t succeed, their multiple attempts didn’t go unnoticed by some. As reported by Connor Hughes of SNY, the Jets made “legitimate attempts” to find someone to replace Nathaniel Hackett as offensive coordinator.

However, as they failed to find one or negotiate a deal, no hire was made, which leaves the offensive line in the hands of Hackett for another season. However, it appears the Jets are counting on one person to overpower Hackett’s poor playcalling, and that’s Aaron Rodgers. 

Last summer, whenever Hackett called a play, the former NFL MVP stepped in and changed it. As New York failed to replace Hackett, they are “putting so much faith in Rodgers’ ability to correct Hackett’s wrongdoings,” in the 2024 regular season.

However, that is if Rodgers didn’t sustain another season-ending injury, which might also later become a career-ending injury.

Jets bolster offense to avoid repeat of 2023 collapse

As the Jets prepare for the 2024 regular season, they have made sure through their actions that they do not want a 2023 repeat.

When Rodgers suffered the torn Achilles injury in the very first game of last season, the whole offense collapsed, and the Jets became the first team to be eliminated from the playoffs. 

But now that he has recovered, the Jets have added more offensive weapons, with Tyron Smith and Mike Williams catching the quarterback’s passes. They also drafted Olu Fashanu to protect Rodgers on the field. 

For reliable backing, they drafted Jordan Travis in the NFL draft and spent three more draft picks on their offense. With a strong offense, the defense is already remarkable, just like it was last season, carrying many of the NFL games solely on its shoulders.
