Jets star WR gets brutally honest amid team's losing skid

New York Jets star wide receiver Garrett Wilson once again declined to hide his frustrations while speaking about last Friday's 34-13 home loss to the Miami Dolphins that dropped New York to 4-7 on the season.

"I hate losing, I really don’t get over it," Wilson told reporters on Friday, per Antwan Staley of the New York Daily News. "It’s not like I’m going to think about it too much, but I’m never over that. I like to resort back to that and figure out why we lost because it will show up again and I don’t want to be a repeat offender of the mistakes I made or the mistakes we made. You can’t lose sight of it, but you gotta be able to bounce back."

Wilson made it known earlier in the week he is "not ok with" the "product we put on the field and the way" the Jets dropped four straight November games. The potential return of injured quarterback Aaron Rodgers to the New York lineup later this month understandably generated numerous sports headlines throughout the week, but the fact remains there's no sign temporary starter Tim Boyle or journeyman Trevor Siemian can guide the Jets to wins they need to keep the team's playoff chances alive until Rodgers is cleared.

ESPN stats show the Jets enter the weekend ranked second to last in the NFL with an average of 260.2 offensive yards per game. New York is 30th with an average of 14.8 points per contest.

In short, it's possible a rusty Rodgers would struggle to produce multiple touchdown drives guiding an offense that next faces the 5-6 Atlanta Falcons at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

"If we have to win out, that’s the mindset," Wilson said about the Jets' fading postseason hopes. "I feel like that’s always the mindset, but it is even more amplified. All of a sudden, we are 4-7 and it’s been a tough stretch for us. We want to win so we can get this bad taste of losing out of our mouths in the first place."

As of early Friday evening, oddschecker listed the Jets as two-point underdogs against the Falcons. Rodgers may want to will his team to wins over the next two Sundays, but it's up to Wilson and company to flip a figurative switch they seemingly haven't been able to find since October.
