Jets' Garrett Wilson shares blunt take on losing streak

Star wide receiver Garrett Wilson didn't hold back from criticizing how the New York Jets have played during their ongoing four-game losing streak.

"As far as the way we’ve been playing, there’s losing and then there’s losing like we’ve lost is how we feel," Wilson explained during an appearance on the ESPN New York "Bart and Hahn Show," per Christian Arnold of the New York Post. "We’ve got to fix that all around. … As far as the product we put on the field and the way we’ve gone down the last five, six weeks, whatever it’s been, I’m not OK with it. I know a lot of guys feel the same."

The once 4-3 Jets are now 4-7 and likely have little reason to rush injured quarterback Aaron Rodgers back to the lineup before next summer. While the benching of signal-caller Zach Wilson allowed Garrett Wilson to notch a garbage-time touchdown reception against the Miami Dolphins this past Friday, Gang Green nevertheless lost that game 34-13.

Jets head coach Robert Saleh now possesses a record of 15-30 with the organization, and it seems inevitable the club won't end what is the NFL's longest active postseason drought before January 2025 at the earliest. According to ESPN stats, the Jets head into Week 13 ranked 30th in the league with an average of 14.8 points per game and 31st with an average of 260.2 offensive yards per contest.

"I’m not naive to the fact that the Jets have had a rough go," Garrett Wilson acknowledged about the team's history. "I watched football growing up and I am aware I was brought in here to be an accessory to changing that."

Garrett Wilson did all he could earlier this month to remain positive but later said he was "truly sorry" to fans regarding "the product offensively we've put on the field this season." He insisted during the radio interview he isn't giving up on the campaign ahead of this Sunday's home game against the 5-6 Atlanta Falcons.

"Someone can ask me, 'Are you fed up?' And I will tell them no," Wilson said. "I’m not fed up. I gotta go figure out and do my part to go fix it."

As of late Wednesday morning, oddschecker listed the Jets as three-point underdogs against the Falcons.
