Jets Training Camp: What’s Left Before Week 1?
USA TODAY Network via Reuters Connect

The Jets are coming off a 17-0 preseason win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, and we are officially entering the final stretch of training camp. There isn’t much left before the evaluation part of the summer ends and Aaron Glenn turns his attention to Week 1. The schedule from here is pretty simple. The Jets have two more training camp practices, the preseason finale against the Giants, and then final Jets roster cuts. After that, training camp is over, and the focus shifts to getting ready for the Tennessee Titans in Nashville. Speaking of which, here is a conversation thread for Jets Fans in Nashville.

Two More Jets Training Camp Practices

The Jets will practice Monday and Tuesday, with both sessions scheduled to begin at 12:45 p.m. JetNation will be there for both practices, and I will be in attendance providing updates from Florham Park along with a full Jets Camp report after practice. At this point in camp, there aren’t many opportunities left for players trying to make the team. The roster battles we have been watching all summer are about to be decided, so these final two practices will be important, especially for the players fighting for the last few spots on the 53-man roster.

Jets vs. Giants at MetLife Stadium

The Jets close out the preseason on Friday, August 28, against the Giants at MetLife Stadium. The Jets are the home team and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. One thing to watch will be Aaron Glenn’s plan for the starters. Last year, the Jets sat the starters in the preseason finale against the Eagles. Geno Smith and the first-team offense got their work against Pittsburgh on Friday night, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Glenn takes a similar approach against the Giants.

Either way, the most important part of this game will probably be at the bottom of the roster. For some players, this will be their last chance to make their case. There isn’t another game after this one, and the coaching staff will have to make its final decisions quickly.

Jets Roster Cuts Are Next

The turnaround after the Giants game is fast. NFL teams have to reduce their rosters to 53 players by 6 p.m. ET on Sunday, August 30. Waiver claims are due the following day, and then the Jets can start putting together their practice squad. There are going to be some tough decisions. We have talked about several of these roster battles throughout camp, and Sarge has his latest projections posted in our Jets roster analysis thread. With two practices and one preseason game remaining, there is still time for those projections to change.

Then the Focus Turns to Tennessee

Once the roster is set and training camp officially breaks, the conversation changes. No more preseason evaluations and no more wondering who is going to get reps with the second or third team. Aaron Glenn and his staff will be game planning for Week 1. That means preparing for the Tennessee Titans in Nashville and finally getting the 2026 regular season underway. They still have two practices, one more preseason game, and plenty of roster decisions to get through first, but the finish line for training camp is here. After that, the games count.
