The New York Jets and Aaron Glenn are under no illusions about the franchise's road ahead, and 2025 is shaping up to be a transition year for the organization.
With Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey doing their best to clean up the mess left by the previous administration, it would never be a quick fix.
Offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand has Justin Fields to lead his unit, and it presents the former first-round pick with a chance to reignite his NFL career.
But with the NFL schedule being released, the Jets' win projections have been released, and with just six wins expected from Glenn's team, NFL.com's Cynthia Frelund writes that it will be a tough year ahead.
"The Jets and new QB Justin Fields will be tested right away when they host Fields' most recent team, the Steelers, in Week 1 at MetLife, then welcome the Bills in Week 2 and head to Tampa in Week 3," Frelund writes. "New York's second go-around against the Bills in Buffalo in Week 18 figures to be more favorable, given the amount of time the Jets will have had by then to settle in under new head coach Aaron Glenn."
Given the task at hand for the front office to turn this ship around, a tough season is expected with Glenn unable to completely turn around the roster in his image in one offseason.
But there are some good pieces to work with on both sides of the ball, and now it is about getting the team playing in the manner that Glenn wants them to. That's a tough, brutal, physical team that is hard to play against.
Six wins is more than the franchise had last season with Aaron Rodgers, and we think fans might just take that right now in Glenn's first year.
But make no mistake, 2025 will be tough sledding for Gang Green, and their win projection reflects that.
