Jets WR Elijah Moore 'ready to play' after trade drama

New York Jets wide receiver Elijah Moore hopes to contribute against the Buffalo Bills this Sunday.

"I feel good. Had a good day at practice, have a good week coming up," Moore explained after Friday's practice session, per Phillip Martinez of SNY. "We have a good team coming up. We got the Bills coming up. I’m ready to play."

Moore has publicly been disgruntled over a lack of targets and his role in the Gang Green offense since before he was made inactive for what became the Week 7 win at the Denver Broncos following his trade request. Head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas insisted that sending Moore elsewhere before Tuesday's trade deadline wasn't an option, and the 22-year-old remains attached to the organization after he was targeted just once in New York's 22-17 loss to the New England Patriots last Sunday.

Saleh said earlier this week he and his staff "have to make sure we find more opportunities for Elijah." Moore was asked Friday if he's ready for such responsibility.

"Whenever your name is called you gotta do what you gotta do," Moore said during his response. "We have the game plan we all feel confident in so we’re just ready to play."

Moore also indicated he wants to move on from the trade request until further notice.

"I know I’m here and I’m going to stay here so why not be super positive?" he said.

Moore has recorded 16 catches on 30 targets for 203 yards and no touchdowns in seven games this season. Quarterback Zach Wilson may want to look for the fellow second-year pro early and often when the 5-3 Jets host the 6-1 Bills considering the signal-caller may find himself benched if he produces a second-straight dud before New York's bye.
