Jets WR Garrett Wilson's frustration continues to boil over as playoff hopes fade

Garrett Wilson's second NFL campaign was supposed to look a whole lot different. Projected to be catching passes from future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers, the reigning offensive Rookie of the Year appeared primed to solidify himself among the league's elite pass-catchers as his New York Jets made a Super Bowl push.

Instead, Rodgers is sidelined with a torn Achilles while Wilson continues to suffer through Gang Green's offensive ineptitude for a team whose playoff hopes are quickly fading.

On Sunday night, the Jets lost a 16-12 game to the Las Vegas Raiders, pushing their record to 4-5 on the season and in third place in the AFC East. After the loss, Wilson voiced his frustration with his team's struggles while speaking with reporters.

Wilson has now spoken out negatively in back-to-back weeks, previously labeling New York's offensive efforts "inexcusable" in its Week 9 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.

Despite the team's struggles, Wilson has continued to produce, leading the Jets with 93 yards on nine receptions in Week 10. Over his last four games, Wilson has averaged 90.8 YPG but has been held scoreless in each contest. In fact, Wilson has not hit paydirt since Week 2, while the Jets offense as a whole hasn't scored a touchdown since Week 8.

Rodgers revealed to NBC's Melissa Stark on Sunday that he is targeting a "mid-December" return to the Jets lineup. However, that may prove too little too late for a team that sits six places out of a wild-card spot in the current playoff picture. Nonetheless, New York has an opportunity to make up ground in the postseason race as its next two games come against division foes Buffalo and Miami.
