With training camp almost here, Jim Harbaugh has added a new assistant to his coaching staff for the Los Angeles Chargers.

Harbaugh agreed to become the head coach of the Chargers in 2024 after leading Michigan to a national title. In his first season in Los Angeles, he led the franchise to an 11-6 record and playoff appearance. They were ultimately dismantled by the Houston Texans in the Wild Card round.

Since the Chargers are coming off a playoff appearance, expectations will be fairly high this upcoming season. It's up to Harbaugh's staff to make sure their players are prepared for what's ahead. In an effort to bolster his supporting cast, he added a coach with plenty of college experience.

According to ESPN's Pete Thamel, the Chargers are adding Colorado State defensive line coach Chuka Ndulue to their staff in an assistant role.

"Colorado State defensive line coach Chuka Ndulue has accepted a job as the Los Angeles Chargers assistant defensive line coach," Thamel said. "He coached prior at Southern Illinois and New Mexico State after playing defensive line at Oklahoma."

The Chargers only allowed 17.7 points per game last season, which ranked No. 1 in the NFL. The defense should play at a high level yet again this fall.

As for the offense, it's imperative Justin Herbert receives support from his skill players.

"He's one of the nine elite guys on our team that train at that level. Wouldn't change a thing about Justin Herbert," Harbaugh said. "The important thing is everybody else. Especially the guys he's counting on the offensive side of the ball just look at his example of how he goes about his business, how he trains and they attempt to get to that level."

The Chargers will begin their 2025 season against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sept. 5.
