After winning a national championship in his final season at Michigan, Jim Harbaugh headed back to the NFL to coach the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024.

Harbaugh helped the Chargers make it back to the NFL playoffs after an 11-6 season, but their season came to an end last weekend in their Wild Card game against the Houston Texans.

With the regular season now over, Harbaugh is taking a well-earned rest. He'll also undergo two medical procedures over the course of the offseason.

On Wednesday, Harbaugh revealed that he will undergo a cardiac ablation and have hip replacement surgery this year.

The 61-year-old had a scare this season when he was forced to leave the sideline with an irregular heartbeat. During the Chargers' Week 6 game against the Denver Broncos, Harbaugh experienced what would later be diagnosed as atrial flutter.

After the diagnosis, Harbaugh saw a cardiologist for the condition and began taking medication to help with it. He also wore a heart monitor for the next two weeks to help his doctors determine the extent of his condition.

Harbaugh has had cardiovascular issues in the past, and has experienced arrhythmia before. He had another heart procedure in 2012 while coaching the San Francisco 49ers, and his current symptoms appear to be an extension of that previous ailment.

Harbaugh will also have hip surgery after walking with a limp all season, dealing with an issue that has also affected him.

The Chargers will look to build on the success they experienced this season, making the playoffs in a difficult AFC West division with teams like the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs.

They lost to the Houston Texans last week, who will move on to face the Chiefs in the divisional round of the AFC playoffs. They'll look to advance to the conference championship game, where they would face either the Baltimore Ravens or the Buffalo Bills, both of whom boast MVP candidates.

As Harbaugh continues to deal with his offseason procedures, we wish him well in his recovery after a busy and successful first campaign with the Chargers.
