J.J. Watt apologizes to Deshaun Watson for Texans' disappointing season: 'We wasted one of your years'

Now, whether or not the Texans should have 11 wins is another debate entirely, but there really is no question that the Texans were among the teams that finished furthest below expectations headed into the season. While few thought the Texans would be Super Bowl contenders, almost nobody thought that they would end up with the third-worst record in the league, ahead of only the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets.

The Texans face a difficult offseason. They need to figure out a way to get some talent around Watson on offense and Watt on defense. For a team with a 4-12 record, that would usually mean the draft, but the Miami Dolphins have the Texans' first-round pick. The Texans also do not have a ton of cap flexibility to work with, meaning they could have a tough time adding talent in free agency or via trade. To top it all off, Houston still needs to figure out who the next long-term head coach will be, as nobody expects interim coach Romeo Crennell to hold on to the job.
