J.J. Watt Applauds NBC For Changing Player Introductions

NBC made a slight change to the signature player introduction cards on Sunday Night Football which has been getting praise everywhere – including from rival networks.

Some eagle-eyed viewers noticed that during last night’s game, SNF did away with the Pro Football Focus rankings that it had been including under the names of the players in recent years. Filling the void was the name of the players hometowns.

Once the change was pointed out, fans applauded NBC for doing away with the PFF data and displaying info that they actually cared about. Among them was J.J. Watt, who currently serves as the interim No. 1 NFL color commentator at CBS. Watt called it “a fantastic development” in a post on X last night.

“This is a fantastic development,” Watt wrote on X.

High Praise for NBC (Low Praise for PFF)

Watt was far from the only one happy to see NBC doing away with the PFF data:

“Regardless of their issues, it was genuinely so funny when you saw an oline get introduced and everybody was ranked bottom five,” one user remarked on X.

“Gonna need PFF grades of their hometowns. I need to know if Pierre, South Dakota can run block,” another joked.

“Considering they will just change peoples ratings so that they get more clicks, they should he gone forever. Fraud org,” wrote a third.

“They should put their favorite food or some other fun facts.”

“This is such an improvement.”

Not everyone is praising the change. Some people admitted that they enjoyed seeing the player metrics, if only to make fun of them.

Nevertheless, NBC has made a change to their NFL broadcasts that fans actually seem to enjoy. That seems to be a rarity these days.
