If you were relying on J.K. Dobbins during Monday night football, you unfortunately probably did not win your fantasy football matchup. Dobbins wasn’t the most highly touted player heading into the year, but he would end with an ADP of 90.3 as the RB34 on FantasyPros.
Yet in Week 1, Dobbins would disappoint with only 3.6 fantasy points. As we look at the statistics and snap counts from PFF, this should help you determine how you should be treating Dobbin’s going forward.
Starting with the good news is that Dobbins led the team in rushing attempts with 8, and the split was only between two backs. Dobbins and RJ Harvey.
Now, the problem is that Harvey had the most snaps on the day with 25, and he also had the most fantasy points (8.3) because he had 4 targets and 4 catches for 23 yards. With the Broncos losing by 21 points in this one, there was never really a chance for them to run the ball, and this script favored Harvey much more.
That said, if the Broncos are able to get a lead in these games, it seems that Dobbins has established himself as the lead back on the ground. I’m not looking to trade for or trade away Dobbins after this game, but he’s a solid player to have on your fantasy football team with the potential to be an RB2 in the right matchup.
