How long will Joe Buck remain the voice of "Monday Night Football" for ESPN? He somewhat answered that question this week.
Buck joined ESPN in March 2022. Prior to striking an agreement with the Worldwide Leader, he spent nearly three decades with Fox Sports. His chemistry in the booth with Troy Aikman was so undeniable that ESPN signed both of them to multi-year deals.
In just their first season together at ESPN, Aikman and Buck helped "Monday Night Football" win a Sports Emmy for "Outstanding Live Sports Series." It wouldn't surprise us if "Monday Night Football" wins a few more Sports Emmys in the coming years.
During an interview with Rock Riley on "The Rock Stops Here" podcast, Buck provided an update on his future in the broadcast booth. If you're a fan of his work, you've got a reason to smile this weekend.
Buck made it clear that he won't be retiring anytime soon.
"I’m hopeful that ESPN wants me to stay, and I want to stay," Buck said, via Awful Announcing. "If they want to sign me to another deal, great. I will go as long as somebody wants me to go, I’ll say that. And I love what I do.
"Game day is the best day. And so, I’d rather go to work. And I don’t know, unless that changes, and some day I’m like, ‘Ahhhh, I don’t want to prepare for this game.’ But 21 games is a great way to make a living, and a great way to carve out a life. As long as they want me to go, I’ll probably keep going."
Whether you love him or hate him, there's no denying that Buck is an outstanding play-by-play commentator.
We can't wait to see Buck back in the booth for Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season.
