Joe Burrow responds to whether Bengals should be active at trade deadline

With Tuesday's NFL trade deadline rapidly approaching, the AFC's top contenders seem to be focused on adding pieces capable of making an impact. But just two years removed from a 12-4 season and three years from a trip to the Super Bowl, the Cincinnati Bengals look poised to stand pat.

And they may not make any moves despite a 3-5 record that leaves them needing a turnaround to get into the mix with the top teams in the conference come playoff time.

Whether or not they'll strike a deal at the trade deadline, quarterback Joe Burrow doesn't sound like he'll be involved in that decision.

As Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer revealed, Burrow echoed the same response not once, but twice about the Bengals potentially making a move at the deadline.

“That’s not my job,” Burrow said.

The most impactful move on the Bengals came when the Baltimore Ravens acquired wide receiver Diontae Johnson from the Carolina Panthers. The Ravens already boast one of the NFL's most explosive offenses, averaging the second-most points per game at 30.3.

As for a few other AFC contenders, the Kansas City Chiefs added wide receiver help in DeAndre Hopkins while also acquiring pass-rusher Josh Uche. The Buffalo Bills gave quarterback Josh Allen a new weapon in the passing game by acquiring wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns.

The Bengals currently sit in ninth place in the AFC but are three games back of the Pittsburgh Steelers and two of the Ravens in the AFC North.
