John Harbaugh planning to snub some interested teams

John Harbaugh is the most wanted man on the coaching market right now, but at least a few teams with a vacancy will not even be able to get their foot in the door to speak to him.

Harbaugh told Jay Glazer of Fox Sports that he only plans to speak to three or four teams about their head-coaching vacancies. The former Baltimore Ravens coach intends to take the weekend to narrow down the field before starting the interview process next week.

In other words, of the eight head coaching vacancies in the NFL right now, maybe half will get their chance to speak with Harbaugh. It is safe to bet the New York Giants will be one of them, and he seems to at least be considering the Tennessee Titans as well.

The Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns are also known to be strongly interested in Harbaugh.

Realistically, Harbaugh might not have the time or energy to sit through eight interviews, especially when there are certain teams that will inevitably appeal to him less than others. One would imagine that a team like the Las Vegas Raiders, who might be poised for a full rebuild, just do not match up with Harbaugh’s timeline.

Harbaugh will essentially have his choice of jobs. His decision will allow at least some teams to move on and seek out some more realistic targets.
