The moment that Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter spat at Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott and was ejected from Thursday's game, fans were deflated that they lost the best player on their defense. Little did they know his partner on the line had the performance of his lifetime in his back pocket.
Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis dominated in Carter's place as he showed that all that weight loss he had in the offseason paid off. Davis ended up playing 87% of the snaps outside of Moro Ojomo and made the most of those snaps.
In the Eagles' 24-20 win over the Cowboys, Davis racked up six tackles, two pressures, one pass deflection, and one tackles for loss. Davis was able to do that in 53 snaps played in the game.
PHLY Eagles analyst Fran Duffy was able to perfectly put together how Davis was able to dominate the Cowboys, going as far as to say it might have been the best game of his career. Davis, at one point or another, took on both of Dallas' guards and the center and was able to power over them.

It was the double teams that the Cowboys were trying to use on Davis that wouldn't work, as he was able to work through them. Even when it was just one-on-one battles, Davis used his strength to push them back or away, allowing him to get to the ball carrier.
Those 26 pounds that Davis lost in the offseason paid off dividends, as it gave him the energy and endurance needed to play more snaps than he ever has. In the past, there were moments when Davis lost energy on a play and would have to sit out multiple plays. That was not the case in the Cowboys game.
Eagles fans should be encouraged that if Carter were to be suspended, Davis is ready to fill the role as DT1. Davis looks like a whole different player and might be on his way to his first Pro Bowl and maybe All-Pro.
