Jordan Poyer outlines what he's looking for in free agency if he leaves Bills

Free-agent safety Jordan Poyer is not ruling out a return to the Buffalo Bills, but if he does decide to move on, he has a pretty specific things he wants in his next team: a state that does not take, in his words, "half" of his money and taxes, and perhaps the ability to see the sun maybe once or twice a week.

The taxes, though, seem to be the biggest thing on his mind as he discussed on his recent podcast

Putting those two things together, wanting to see the sun and looking for a significant reduction in taxes, the state of Florida might seem to be a pretty intriguing option given its constant sunshine and lack of a state income tax.

Miami? Tampa Bay? Jacksonville?

Poyer talked specifically about Miami on his podcast and how nice it would be to stay in the AFC East. He also mentioned that he would be at quarterback Tua Tagovailoa's birthday party this weekend and how he might need to put on a nice suit and tie because Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel will probably be there.

The 31-year-old Poyer has been one of the best safeties in the NFL and is coming off of a 2022 season that saw him intercept four passes and record 63 tackles, eight pass defenses and a forced fumble. The Bills do not have a ton of salary cap space to work with so re-signing him might prove to be problematic for them.
