Josh Allen Is Already Running Away With NFL MVP

The Buffalo Bills pulled out the victory against the Detroit Lions 41-31 in the inaugural game at new Highmark Stadium. The obvious star of the game was the Bills quarterback Josh Allen. He’s always in conversation for the MVP, but today, he made the race way harder for other candidates. 

In classic Bills fashion, they dominated on offense totaling 451 yards. Of the 451 yards, 243 of them were from Josh Allen’s arm while the other 203 came on the ground from the Buffalo rushing attack. Of course, Allen made his mark on the ground with 69 rushing yards and two touchdowns on his own. Adding to his passing yards, he added three touchdowns. 

So all in all, Allen ended the night with 317 total yards and five total touchdowns. The race for MVP is on, and Allen already has an early lead that is more like a stranglehold. 

Allen Is Consistent 

It wasn’t just this performance against the Lions, but the four touchdowns against Houston from Week 1. 

In total, Allen has 582 passing yards, five passing touchdowns and 92 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. He’s consistently shown that he can do it all and has opened up 2026 with two highlight performances. 

Other Candidates Can’t Match Allen 

On markets and sports books, Caleb Williams, Lamar Jackson and Trevor Lawrence are three players that follow Allen in MVP talk. 

Although they’re close, the question is if those players can stay consistent. Allen has displayed that every year and opened up the year with a big bang.

Other candidates for the award are Brock Purdy and Joe Burrow. Many believe that Burrow has the pieces to finally take the crown but, the race for MVP has started and Allen has already made his mark.
