Josh Allen Makes Patrick Mahomes Admission After Bills-Chiefs

The Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs delivered another exciting installment of their heavyweight AFC rivalry on Sunday, with Josh Allen and the Bills coming out on top 28-21. Kansas City was in the game until the very last play, but the quarterback play was much more lopsided than the final score.

Allen recorded the highest pass completion rate of his career (88.5 percent), hitting 23-of-26 passes for 273 yards, one passing touchdown and no interceptions. A bruising runner, the reigning MVP also made NFL history by scoring two rushing touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes had the worst completion percentage of any game in his career (44.1 percent), going 15-of-34 for 250 yards, no touchdowns and one interception.

A poor night from Mahomes did not prevent Allen from sweating out the final moments. Following a missed field goal that would have put the Bills up 31-21, the Chiefs got the ball at their own 42-yard line with 0:22 left. Mahomes had no timeouts to work with, but a touchdown and an extra point would have tied the game. The three-time Super Bowl winner has pulled off similar heroics against the Bills in the past, and that weighed on Allen's mind.

Josh Allen Didn't Count Out Patrick Mahomes

When asked by a reporter if he took a breath in the final 0:22, Allen admitted, "No ... You never know with Pat."

Bills fans in the comments could relate to the Buffalo quarterback. "All of us," replied one fan on X.

"Can confirm no breaths taken here either," said another.

Has Chiefs' Late-Game Magic Run Out?

Their response was justified. In the regular season, Mahomes has led 23 game-winning drives in his career. He has another seven in the postseason, with three of them coming against Buffalo, per Pro Football Reference.

As Allen admitted, it is hard to overlook that type of history when you face the Chiefs. In 2025, the fact is that their late-game execution has slipped. Last year, they set an NFL single-season record with 11 wins in one-score games. After the loss to Buffalo, Kansas City is now 0-4 in one-score games this season.

Following Sunday's dramatic conclusion, Mahomes is demanding changes from his team. Allen, on the other hand, can finally take a breath.
