Josh Allen once again carried the Buffalo Bills through a demanding NFL season.
Allen played through pain late in the year without missing time. Buffalo leaned heavily on Allen during another playoff push. That run ended with frustration and unanswered questions.
Allen appeared in an unexpected way during Buffalo’s press conference introducing Joe Brady as head coach. While attention focused on Brady, Allen drew early concern. He used crutches for support but did not lean on them heavily, and his boot confirmed the injury was still present.
NFL reporter Matthew Bove posted a video showing Allen arriving on crutches and wrote, "Josh Allen is here. He’s on crutches and wearing a boot on his right foot."

Allen first injured his foot during a late-season win over the Cleveland Browns. He missed no games and played one snap in the season finale. That decision allowed rest before the playoffs, and later, he played through pain in the postseason.
Buffalo’s playoff run ended in a 33-30 overtime loss to the Denver Broncos. Allen struggled with four turnovers in the loss. Despite that, he never mentioned the injury publicly, and the walking boot suggested it affected him more than expected.
“It’s extremely difficult,” Allen said with tears in his eyes, after a loss to Brocos. “I feel like I, feel like I let, let my teammates down tonight.”

General manager Brandon Beane later said Allen might need an offseason procedure. Beane added it would not impact organized team activities.
"Brandon Beane cautioned... that a procedure would not affect Allen's availability for organized team activities in the offseason," ESPN reported.
The Bills finished 12-5 and reached the playoffs again, and Allen threw for 3,668 yards and 25 touchdowns. He remained the offense’s core despite injuries.
While the season ended early, there is optimism that his foot will heal fully before next year.
