The Green Bay Packers stand among the NFL’s top teams, and Josh Jacobs continues to prove it with his scoring run. Head coach Matt LaFleur praised Jacobs after he stretched his touchdown streak to 10 games, per Ryan Wood on X. Jacobs powered into the end zone during Green Bay’s 27-18 win over the Commanders on Thursday Night Football.
“Matt LaFleur on what Josh Jacobs’ current 10-game streak with a rushing TD says about the #Packers RB: “How dependable he is. He’s always available, and I love how he competes,” Wood wrote.
Jacobs predicted before the season that this year’s Packers could be something special — and that was before the team landed Micah Parsons. He highlighted the roster’s strong balance during his appearance on Bussin’ With The Boys, per atozsports.
“When you got a lot of young guys, we were the youngest team in the NFL last year, it’s a lot of hunger, which I love. It’s a lot of guys who are still coachable, still willing to put in the work each day. And just to have this type of guys with another year’s worth of experience, and then obviously we added some pieces,” Jacobs remarked during his guesting.
Jacobs has struggled to find running lanes through the first two games, yet he’s turned limited space into production. Pro Football Focus reports that 127 of his 150 rushing yards have come after contact, placing him third among all running backs.
Through the first two weeks, both the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders loaded the box to contain Jacobs. Summer Sports notes he’s faced an average of 7.57 defenders in the box this season, up from 7.15 in 2024. That pressure has dropped his yards per carry by 0.8 compared to last year. Even so, Green Bay continues to score efficiently, with Jacobs playing a key role in that success.
In last Thursday’s win over the Commanders, Jacobs extended his franchise record to 10 straight games with a rushing touchdown, including 11 with the postseason. He powered in a 2-yard score to finish a 92-yard drive that gave the Packers a 14-0 lead in the second quarter. While he has not broken off long runs, his physical style has been a major weapon near the goal line.
Jacobs has logged heavy usage throughout his NFL career, yet he continues to run with power and energy, per the Packers website. The Packers must now test their durability as the season unfolds. With Jacobs driving the ground game, the offense building momentum, and the defense setting the tone, Green Bay looks poised for a special year.
