Josh Jacobs has settled his legal issues

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs has settled his legal issues ahead of the start of the NFL season.

Jacobs pleaded no contest to misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property on Thursday. As part of the plea, Jacobs agreed to avoid contact with the victim, pay restitution, seek counseling, and avoid any further criminal acts for the next year. If Jacobs fulfills those conditions, the property damage charge will be dismissed.

In a statement, Jacobs’ attorneys called the matter “resolved” and said the resolution “is set against a career long history of Josh’s community work while in the NFL.”

The NFL will now have the opportunity to conclude its own investigation and issue its own discipline. Typically, the standard suspension for domestic violence is for six games, though it remains to be seen what the NFL will find and when that decision will be made.

Jacobs is currently on the Commissioner Exempt List as the league’s investigation continues. For now, he remains there ahead of Week 1, and there was no indication as to when that status might change.

Jacobs rushed for 1,329 yards in 2024 with 15 touchdowns, and he had 929 yards and 13 touchdowns this past year for Green Bay.
