Justin Thomas: Brady, Manning will want to 'destroy each other' on golf course

Tom Brady and Peyton Manning will have another chance to go head-to-head, but this time it'll be on the golf course and not the football field.

Manning will team up with Tiger Woods and compete against Brady and Phil Mickelson in "The Match: Champions for Charity" on Sunday. The golf tournament will raise at least $10 million, if not more, for COVID-19 relief charities.

Brady and Manning know a little something about being competitive, but TB12 and the New England Patriots had their way with Manning and a combination of the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos. Brady holds an 11-6 record against Manning in both the regular season and playoffs.

While Brady has the opportunity to put another one in the win column on Sunday, PGA Tour star Justin Thomas believes things may get a little heated on the course between the two NFL legends, as he explained to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post:

“When those guys get on the back 9, when they get the last four or five holes, it is going to be competitive. Especially Peyton and Tom — they want to destroy each other. Phil and Tiger, no matter what they say, they want to destroy each other. That is just the way it is.”

There will be loads of star power on the course this Memorial Day weekend. Brady is a six-time Super Bowl champion, 14-time Pro Bowler and three-time MVP while Manning is a two-time Super Bowl champion, 14-time Pro Bowler and five-time MVP. On the golf side of things, Woods is a five-time Masters Tournament champion, four-time PGA Tour champion, three-time U.S. Open champion and three-time The Open champion. Mickelson is a three-time Masters Tournament champion, PGA Tour champion and The Open champion.

Instead of competing, Thomas will be reporting alongside Amanda Balionis, Charles Barkley, Brian Anderson and Justin Immelman. The match will take place at the Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Florida, and kick off at 3 p.m. ET on TNT and TBS.
