The Kansas City Chiefs are on a two-game slump, losing to both the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos in the last two weeks after an unbeaten 5-0 start. Naturally, Patrick Mahomes and company will look to bounce back in Week 9 when they face the New York Jets at Arrowhead Stadium.
Kansas City is undefeated at home so far this season with a 3-0 record, so it’s not surprising that the team is favored against New York. ESPN’s Matchup Predictor has given the Chiefs an 80.3% chance to win the game.
The Jets are also 2-6 on the campaign and have lost their last three outings. That being said, it’s the perfect opportunity for the Chiefs to get back in the win column.
However, getting back on track is not the only thing that fans can look forward to in the showdown. Ahead of Sunday’s game, the Chiefs also have something planned to honor all U.S. service members.
On Thursday, the Chiefs announced that Mahomes and the rest of the players will be wearing a custom patch as a tribute to service members in recognition of the 250th anniversary of the U.S.A.’s adoption of the Declaration of Independence.
The Chiefs will be wearing the patches during warmups before Sunday’s game against the Jets.
“New patch just dropped,” the Chiefs wrote, while sharing photos of the custom patch. “Introducing our custom Salute to Service patch, honoring our country’s 250th anniversary and all service members.”
The custom patch features the Chiefs’ logo at the top, as well as the current year (2026) on the right and the year the Declaration of Independence was adopted (1776) on the left side.
A soldier illustration is placed in the middle, and the number “250” appears below it to commemorate the Semiquincentennial milestone. Lastly, it also includes the U.S. Army motto, “This we’ll defend.”
