Kansas City Chiefs Make WR Move Amid Xavier Worthy Situation

Xavier Worthy watched from the sideline as the Kansas City Chiefs fell to 0-2 with a 20-17 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL season. Worthy, along with Rashee Rice, was sidelined after dislocating his shoulder in the Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The injury was a direct result of a collision with Travis Kelce on the opening drive, keeping him out for the remainder of the game and then some.

But Worthy appears to be on track to play in Week 3 after a positive report from NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.

“Worthy did practice this week, and my understanding is he’s got a shot to play next week against the Giants here at MetLife Stadium," Garafolo said. "We’ll see how the week in practice goes, though."

Still, the Chiefs don’t appear overly concerned about Worthy’s injury lingering, showing enough confidence to waive a wide receiver on Tuesday.

Amid Worthy's injury situation, A to Z Sports' Charles Goldman reported that the Chiefs have waived wide receiver Hal Presley from the practice squad. Simultaneously, Kansas City has also re-signed linebacker Cole Christiansen to the practice squad.

Presley spent four seasons playing college football for the Baylor Bears. He went undrafted in 2025 before receiving a shot with the Buffalo Bills. But Presley didn't make it past rookie mini camp, getting waived for the first time.

The Chiefs signed Presley shortly after his stint with the Bills ended. After releasing him once, Kansas City brought him back to the practice squad on Sept. 10 before waiving him again six days later. He did not see any action through Week 2.

Christansen, on the other hand, is a familiar face in the Kansas City practice squad. He has spent four seasons with the Chiefs (2022-25), winning two Super Bowl rings along the way. He has played in 10 regular-season games with Kansas City.

"The Chiefs waived WR Hal Presley from the practice squad and re-signed LB Cole Christiansen to the practice squad," Goldman wrote on X.

The Chiefs will look to end their winning drought in Week 3 when they hit the road to face the New York Giants. Getting Worthy back would be a major boost for Patrick Mahomes and company.
