Kellen Moore Couldn't Believe New Chargers WR Was Available to Draft
USA TODAY Sports

Newest Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is going to have all of the tools available to him in the 2023 season to help develop LA's offense into one of the best in the NFL. The side of the ball in which their squad needs the most growth in is clearly defense and he doesn't have to worry one bit about that.

Respect was clearly shown to Moore and his new role within the franchise when the Chargers opted to go with a wide receiver in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Despite clear needs on the defensive line and safety, the Bolts still opted to go with Quentin Johnston among other names to welcome another pass-catching weapon to the squad.

Johnston almost doubled his offensive stats across the board in his final collegiate season but beyond that, he appeared to be quicker and more athletic than ever. These physical attributes are what really caught the eyes of LA's scouts along with Moore himself.

Despite never having the best receiver options during his time in Dallas, Moore still helped guide the Cowboys to three seasons of consistent offense. He'll be able too work alongside talent he never has before with guys like Justin Herbert, Keenan Allen, and a young Johnston.

Moore revealed that LA was ecstatic when they saw the 21-year-old was still available on the draft board when their 21st pick rolled around.

“What he did for TCU from his versatility, I thought, was really, really special. His ability to kind of catch-and-run, he was a fly-sweep guy. He got the ball in a lot of different ways. You saw a lot of versatility in his game that maybe, initially, someone may not have necessarily anticipated. We were really excited that he was there and available for us.”

LA's offense is going to truly make or break their squad this season as they have every piece needed to succeed.
