Kenneth Walker misses Chiefs practice with injury concern

Kansas City Chiefs star running back Kenneth Walker III missed Tuesday’s practice because of a foot injury as the team prepares to close out its winless preseason against the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.

ESPN’s Nate Taylor reported early Tuesday afternoon on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the reigning Super Bowl MVP was not expected to participate in practice.

“The Chiefs say Kenneth Walker III (foot) is expected to not practice today.”

The development gives Kansas City an injury situation to monitor with the start of the 2026 regular season approaching. Walker joined the Chiefs during the offseason after four seasons with Seattle, where he established himself as one of the NFL’s top running backs.

Walker finished the 2025 regular season with 1,027 rushing yards on 221 carries, averaging 4.6 yards per attempt while scoring five touchdowns. He later earned Super Bowl LX MVP honors during Seattle’s championship run.

Kansas City will face Walker’s former team Friday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN. The Chiefs enter the preseason finale following a 16-15 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday.

After concluding the preseason, Kansas City will turn its attention toward its regular-season opener against the Denver Broncos on Monday, Sept. 14, at 8:15 p.m. ET on ESPN and ABC. Walker’s foot injury will remain worth monitoring as that matchup approaches.
