Kevin Stefanski is giving a potential breakout player for the Browns his flowers during mandatory minicamp

The Cleveland Browns were abysmal on offense last season, and that was the primary reason they finished with a 3-14 record and the No. 2 overall pick in the draft.

If Cleveland wants to win more games in 2025, they must improve offensively in a big way. The Browns need to establish an identity and return to the physical run game that once defined Kevin Stefanski’s system. Play-action passing, once a key part of their offense, could become a focal point again this season.

After losing Elijah Moore in free agency, the Browns need another wide receiver to step up alongside Jerry Jeudy. Cedric Tillman could be that guy entering his third season, but there’s another name drawing attention during OTAs.

“He’s had a really strong spring,” Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said of wide receiver Jamari Thrash. “He’s here all the time working on his body. Very intelligent player—he can line up in multiple positions, which I think is valuable. And he’s caught the ball well. The quarterbacks like how he gets open. He finds a way to get open against zone and man coverage.”

Cleveland selected Thrash in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and his role was minimal as a rookie. He recorded just three catches for 22 yards, but he flashed potential during training camp, hinting at what he’s capable of. At 6 feet tall, Thrash is a solid route runner who has a knack for creating separation and could become a contributor in the Browns’ passing game this season.

If Thrash continues to make plays like the touchdown grab from rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel linked above, he could be in line for a breakout campaign in 2025. While it’s still only mandatory minicamp, Thrash is making a strong case to earn a bigger role in his second year.
