The (2-3)Cincinnati Bengals travel to the (2-1-1) Green Bay Packers in Week 6 of the 2025 NFL season. Both teams are looking to bounce back, as neither have won a game since Week 2. Today we dive into a few key matchups in Cincinnati vs Green Bay.
The first of our key matchups in Cincinnati vs Green Bay is Round 2 vs Joe Flacco. The 40 year old Quarterback was just traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Bengals this week. Marking the second time this season this Packers team will see him playing for an AFC North team. Week 3 did not end up the way that most pundits had anticipated, with Joe Flacco and the Browns stealing a victory from Green Bay in the last 4 minutes of the game. This time around the 40 year old QB will have much better weapons to throw to in Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Expect the Bengals to get the ball out of Flacco’s hands as quick as possible, utilizing the quick passing game. It will be up to the Packers defense to show up and not allow another collapse to a Joe Flacco led team.
Second of our key matchups in Cincinnati vs Green Bay is the Packers pass rush vs the Bengals offensive line. In week 3 the Green Bay Packers faced a banged up Browns offensive line featuring Flacco as their quarterback, registering 2 sacks both by Rashan Gary. In week 6 the Packers are facing an even worse offensive line in the Cincinnati Bengals, PFF has them ranked at #31 in the NFL. Micah Parsons made it a point to say he wanted to sack Joe Flacco for the first time in his NFL career a couple weeks ago. Parsons will have a great chance at redemption in week 6 vs the Bengals. A key component to look out for in this matchup is if Devonte Wyatt can’t go, how will the pass rush look? In their last game the Packers defense dominated until the Wyatt injury, after the injury the wheels just fell off for this defense. If there is no Wyatt, can the rest of the Packers pass rush pick up the slack? With how much money is invested in the pass rush, GM Brian Gutekunst sure hopes so.
The last and most important of the key matchups in Cincinnati vs Green Bay is the Packers secondary vs Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Anytime an opponent is facing the Cincinnati Bengals, the most important thing to do is try and minimize the Bengals dynamic wide receiver duo. It will most likely be the toughest duo of receivers the Packers will face in the 2025 regular season. Keisean Nixon has been awesome thus far in 2025, Green Bay will need to hope that Carrington Valentine and Nate Hobbs are up for the task and come ready to play otherwise it could be a long day for the Green Bay Packers secondary. If the pass rush can not get home, the secondary needs to step up unlike they did in Dallas.
