The (3-1-1) Green Bay Packers travel to (2-4)Arizona in a Week 7 NFC matchup. Both teams have something to prove in week 7 with the Cardinals losing 4 straight close ball games. The Packers are still looking for their first complete game of the 2025 season. Can the Cardinals break their losing streak? Can the Packers offense and defense both play complete games? Today we dive into the key matchups in Green Bay @ Arizona.
The first of our key matchups in Green Bay @ Arizona is Jordan Love vs the Arizona defense. The Cardinals pass defense ranks 28th in the NFL in yards allowed per game through the air. Jordan Love ranks 1st in the NFL in EPA per drop back and 2nd in yards per attempt and yards per completion. If the Cardinals pass rush continues to struggle to generate pass rush against the Packers it could be a very long day. Love thrives from a clean pocket posting a 92.5 PFF grade and a 121.4 passer rating when not under pressure. If Love can keep up his strong start to the 2025 season the Packers should be able to come out on top.
The second of our key matchups in Green Bay @ Arizona is the Green Bay rushing defense vs the Cardinals rushing offense. The Packers rushing defense ranks first in the NFL with opponents rushing yards per game at just 73. Their opponents average just 3.6 yards per carry thus far in 2025. The rushing defense will face a very banged up Cardinals rushing attack. James Conner is out for the season, Trey Benson is on IR, and Emari Demercado is hurt with an ankle injury. That leaves the workload in the hands of Bam Knight and Michael Carter. If the Green Bay defense can continue their strong start against the rush, it could force the Cardinals to become one dimensional and rely on backup QB Jacoby Brissett(if Murray does not suit up). If the Packers look to finish a complete game on defense it starts with stopping the run.
The last of our key matchups in Green Bay @ Arizona is Josh Jacobs vs the Cardinals rushing defense. The first two weeks of the season the Packers offensive line struggled to get Josh Jacobs rolling. However in the last 2 weeks they have started to pick up some steam. Jacobs posted 86 yards and 2 TD’s vs Dallas and 93 yards with 2 touchdowns vs Cincinnati. Yet Jacobs is still at only 3.7 yards per carry in 2025. The arrow should continue to trend upward this Sunday as the Cardinals rush defense is allowing 102 rushing yards per game. With Jacobs not posting a 100 yard rushing game since week 12 of the 2024 season, could Sunday be the day he cracks that 100 yard mark again?
