In pursuit of their Super Bowl victory last season, the Rams made some business decisions that seem to have compromised their short-term future. They’ve compiled a 3-8 record here in 2022, which leaves them needing to run the table to finish above .500. As the team turns back to second-string quarterback John Wolford after third-stringer Bryce Perkins threw for an even 100 yards in last week’s loss to the Chiefs, we’re backing his safety valve for our top prop:
The bet: Over 14½ receiving yards for Rams running back Kyren Williams (DraftKings)
A fifth-round rookie out of Notre Dame, Williams missed two months with a high-ankle sprain. But since making his offensive debut in Week 10, his role has expanded to the point that he played on 70% of the snaps a week ago. He has three catches in two of the last three games, posting receiving totals of 30 and 25 yards.
On the other side is a Seahawks defense that allows the second-highest yards per reception to opposing running backs. It just took a pounding from the Raiders’ Josh Jacobs, who turned six catches into 74 yards – a average of better than 12 – in an overtime loss.
As touchdown underdogs, the Rams are expected to be trailing and Williams has become the preferred option out of the backfield. He shouldn’t need more than a couple of opportunities to exceed this total.
