Kirk Cousins addresses uncertainty about Raiders' QB1 decision

The Las Vegas Raiders' preseason is officially in the rearview mirror, but there's still no final decision on the starting quarterback.

Following the loss to the San Francisco 49ers, head coach Klint Kubiak claimed there was no need to name a starter.

Of course, all signs still point to veteran Kirk Cousins getting the nod, but nothing is official until there's an announcement.

When asked about that, the veteran signal-caller didn't sound too bothered by the situation. At the end of the day, it's out of his control.

“I think it’s just up to coach,” Cousins said postgame. “You just do the best you can with the opportunities you’re given, lead as well as you can, compete, and you’re never a finished product. And so naming something one day, it can change the next day. So you just go about your business each day methodically and let the chips fall where they may.”

Cousins barely played in the preseason. He finished Thursday night's contest with eight completions on 11 attempts for 82 yards in what was a non-competitive dress rehearsal against backups.

It's hard to believe that anything he could've done in this game would've moved the needle.

The Raiders signed Cousins before taking Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 pick, knowing the reigning Heisman Trophy winner would need some time to learn the ropes of the game.

And after watching Mendoza look like a rookie in his limited taste of preseason action, it would be a major surprise if they didn't roll with the veteran for the season opener.
