The deal comes as many NFL teams are extending the contracts of the league’s best tackles, and the Raiders are the latest to get their bit of business wrapped up.
Earlier this offseason, Miller held out of the beginning of the Raiders’ workout program, but he returned to the team for OTAs in May. Throughout the process, Miller remained positive that a deal would make its way through, clearly wanting to remain with the Raiders long-term.
“I want to be a Raider for life,” Miller said in June, per The Athletic’s Tashan Reed. “I love it here. I don’t want to go anywhere else. I only know one way to do it, and that’s showing up and getting better each day.”
Since being drafted 15th overall by the Raiders in 2018, Miller has remained one of the most consistent players on the team. He has only missed seven games in his NFL career, and he was the 14th-highest rated tackle in the league last season, per Pro Football Focus.
Now, Miller can completely focus on preparation for this season, while the Raiders can breathe easy now that another important piece of their core is locked up.
