Whether he's admitting he's displeased with his passing or taking the heat for an unhappy wide receiver, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has been open and honest about his lackluster performances this fall coming off an MVP season.
Is a lack of creativity the biggest problem affecting Baltimore's offense in 2020?
As Jamison Hensley wrote for ESPN, Jackson explained during a Wednesday appearance on the "Rich Eisen Show" that opposing defenses have known at least some of Baltimore's offensive plays before snaps this season.
"They're calling out our plays, stuff like that," Jackson said. "They know what we're doing. Sometimes, stuff won't go our way, if they're beating us to the punch."
The 23-year-old added that he's heard defenders directly yell out upcoming plays on the field.
One likely wouldn't guess Baltimore's offense has struggled upon looking at the standings, as the Ravens sit at 6-2 and have lost only to the defending-champion Kansas City Chiefs and undefeated Pittsburgh Steelers this season. Per ESPN stats, Jackson is 17th in total QBR among eligible players (65.2), 27th overall with 1,513 passing yards, and tied for 19th with 12 touchdown throws.
He's also contributed 469 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground in eight games.
