The Baltimore Ravens' end to the 2024 season was a premature one. It seemed like the team was peaking at the perfect time heading into the playoffs and even kept the momentum up in the Wild Card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, costly errors once again pushed the Ravens out in January at the hands of the Buffalo Bills.
It felt like everyone on the roster made a mistake in the divisional matchup, leading to a 27-25 loss. With that failure fresh in the mind, Baltimore is looking to get back on track in 2025 and finally conquer their postseason woes. Quarterback Lamar Jackson spoke about the team’s desires for this upcoming season, and this team is hungry.
“We’re going to bounce back, and when we come back, I feel like we are going to have vengeance on our minds,” Jackson told the media on the first day of mandatory minicamp.
Every year, the Ravens have a new reason to prove people wrong. Following last year's playoff performance, the media is questioning Baltimore's alarming turnover rate. However, the team is ready to shut down another narrative and finally reach the top of the league this season. With their schedule outlook, Baltimore has the perfect opportunity to capture that vengeance Jackson is talking about.
The team opens Week 1 with a playoff rematch against the Bills in Buffalo on Sunday Night Football. Then, just a few weeks later on Week 4, they go up against the Kansas City Chiefs, who have historically had their number. Baltimore has not heard the end of their doubters saying they cannot beat those teams when the lights are at their brightest and begin the revenge tour in the early going. However, there is no doubt that the Ravens have a bigger picture in mind–the road ahead in the playoffs.
The players have heard it all. They cannot win in the playoffs, they falter in the big moments, they will never make the Super Bowl; the list goes on. But if any season is Baltimore’s chance to capture a Lombardi, it is 2025. All of their star players have had years of playoff experience by now, and they are more motivated than ever. Now, the front office may have fielded the most talented team in football.
From top to bottom, the Ravens have All-Pros and Pro Bowl candidates scattered throughout. It is one of the most stacked rosters in the league. The defense looks like it will transform into a top unit after a horrendous 2024, and there is no doubt the offense will again dominate.
If Baltimore can find a rhythm in the playoffs, they will be a tough train to stop. With so many weapons on offense and a defense that can win on all levels, 2025 seems like the year in Baltimore.
